SEE THE SILENT RIDER IN MOTION

THE STORY BEHIND SILENT RIDER

In 1878, photographer Eadweard Muybridge changed history by capturing a horse mid-gallop—proving for the first time that all four hooves lift off the ground. These images, known as “The Horse in Motion,” are considered one of the first motion pictures.

But there’s a deeper story buried in those frames.

THE RIDER WHO WAS ERASED

In every photo, a Black man is clearly riding the horse.
Yet his name was never written down. Never honored.

The horse became famous.
The photographer became a legend.
But the rider—the one who carried the motion—was forgotten.

HOW I DISCOVERED THE TRUTH

I didn’t learn the truth during my time at Full Sail.

It wasn’t until I watched Nope by Jordan Peele that I finally saw what had been erased—hidden in plain sight all along.

That moment stuck with me.
It’s what inspired me to create The Neon Rodeo—a world where our stories aren’t just remembered… they lead.

WHY THIS WORK MATTERS

Silent Rider is my way of honoring the unnamed rider.
He represents all the Black and Brown creators who helped shape culture,
but were cut out of the frame.

He was always there.
Now, we see him.
Now, we remember.
